“I will always be a student to life’s teaching am always learning hence forever a student.”
My journey of yoga started with a back and knee pain. I had tried all the alternative methods such as acupuncture, chiropractors, heat pad ointments, and not to miss the pain killers, it helped for a short time, but the pain sprung back. I decided to focus on the root cause just like any disease. This led me to the trying to find a solution that would help eliminate the pain at its root and this quest led me to yoga as everything else had failed. Yoga worked like a miracle for me it not only healed my aches and pain but provided for me a new learning to take care and be in control of oneself not in the egoistic way but in simpler terms of life.
The learning I would like to share from my yoga experience is that yoga is not a physical form of exercise there is a connection with your mind when you move in different asanas. There is also a connection in your breathing pattern, you learn to pay attention to, inhales, and exhales and the ebb of your emotions whiles doing the asanas and regulating your breaths with your mind and body. There is a beautiful saying in yoga- “Remember, it doesn’t matter how deep into a posture you go – what does matter is who you are when you get there.” – Max Strom.
Yoga has taught me to be happy with simple things in life than to be always rushing, to chase the future or live with past regrets. I learnt to live in the present, even when times are hard, because I have learnt the tools of life and that is to breathe, to let go, to surrender what I cannot control. This is something I would like to share with my students, and I am always learning, and I always make sure I also learn something from my students.
Om Shanti Shanti Om!
